God Broke In: Two Stories & a Thought to Ponder
Story 1 I am sure you all remember the highway shooting south of Calgary in December, and you received this urgent message from Dennis:
URGENT NEED FROM PASTOR DENNIS & THE PEOPLE CARE TEAM: As a church we are continuing to offer support to the family of Shayna Conway (the highway shooting victim in December). Shayna is recuperating in the hospital here in Calgary and her father will be here for the next five weeks. He is in need of a vehicle to use while he is here beginning Monday, January 30th. If you have a vehicle you are able and willing to make available to him for all or part of that time, please contact Rick Richards at

. Thank you!
…but here is an update since that message…
A vehicle was donated by one of our RockPointe Bearspaw families for Scott Conway for his use while he is here in Calgary. Rick Richards and Scott Conway went to pick up the vehicle on Sunday, January 29th and were able to meet the donor family and tell them how Shayna was doing. There have also been attempts to follow up with the family whose son did the shooting….
SO just many thanks to all of you who considered what you could do to help and for the donor vehicle being provided. Thanks also to Rick Richards for spearheading this along with our People Care team. I believe it brought a smile to God’s face – you are a generous people!

Story 2 People Care has been praying that our RockPointe men would become the hands and feet by supporting others who need manual labour to get a particular job done. It has been hard to see families who are in need of furniture and not have "man" power to deliver it to them. SO what happened? I got this message from Geoff Heth and Stu Abercrombie:
Hi all… So tonight the Rockpointe Men’s Ministry had our first official event and in my opinion it was a huge success. We had a whole bunch of guys show up and load trucks with cribs and baby supplies and deliver them around the city. Anthony and I took his truck and did 4 deliveries ourselves to the NW and we had a great reception from the people we delivered too. We even stayed a little longer and helped 2 people set up their cribs.
While the opportunity didn't exactly present itself to speak about our faith I feel that we acted well and represented Christians and Rockpointe members very well. Thanks to everyone that participated and everyone that made this happen. It was a wonderful experience. Great job guys. See you on Sunday! Sincerely Stu

A thought…
Over this next 40 days we are going on an incredible journey as the congregations of RockPointe, to engage with God’s word every day and then give space for God to infect our lives and teach us how to journey in faith with Him. We deeply desire to live a life with regard for God, rather than without regard for God. Don’t miss this opportunity for the next 40 days!
SO this past week as part of my journey with God, I was reading 1 Samuel 16 & 17. Here is what I wrote in my Journal…
I am amazed at the close walk you had with Samuel – such back and forth conversation. ‘Father, that’s what I want’. And I was also struck by how you revealed so little of the future to Samuel. You told him to go down to anoint one of Jesse’s sons in Bethlehem to be king, but he wasn’t told which one. Then when he was to anoint one of Jesse’s sons, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, ‘ he is the one, but you said, not him. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart’. And then Samuel tried to anoint the other 6 of Jesse’s sons, but each time you said ‘no not this one’, until you got to David – the one who you knew was ‘a man after your heart’. Lord I realize you don’t give me a map for the next 30 days or 30 years of my life. You desire that I commit to walk with you daily, intimately, and that you will reveal the good things you have already prepared in advance for me to do (Eph 2:10) – how amazing! SO Father, help me to continue to grow in my daily dependence and ability to hear your voice and do those things you have prepared in advance for me to do…Love, Lorne
Great journeying with you…
