"How God Broke In"

Sometimes there are situations where there is absolutely no solution unless God breaks in.

‘When God Broke In’ is the title of our Christmas series each week throughout the month of December. Our teaching team will be helping us to explore the events leading up the birth of Jesus when God broke into our world and changed the course of history. The neat thing is we won’t just be talking about ancient history (what God did 2000+ years ago) because, as the above story illustrates God stills breaks in today and changes otherwise impossible situations because of His infinite perfect love for us. 

God Breaks in

Although we may not realize, God is always breaking in our lives and the lives of people around us. As we start this series, it is with God's timing that we have received such an encouraging story of how God is breaking in today:

Earlier this week we received an urgent prayer request from Chantelle McIver, Director of the Girls at Risk Vocational School in Niamey, Niger (where our short term team served in August), “Devastating news this morning that one of our girls from the Girls at Risk School has been sold to a Dubai businessman as a wife. It will happen Saturday. Not sure there is much we can do to stop this but PRAY!! Pray God's presence and protection and for a miracle! The girl is only 15 years of age."

Thousands of Jesus’ followers around the world immediately began to pray, knowing that the only solution would be Divine intervention. The next day we received a follow-up message, ‘REJOICE!! Great news from Niger--our workers visited the family and discovered that they are unhappy (having discovered that the man who wants to marry their daughter already has a wife and family in Dubai) and the girl was too upset so they decided to return the money and call off the wedding!!! It is a MIRACLE! Keep praying!’ Once again God broke through and rescued an otherwise impossible situation because that is what He does.  Praise His Name and to Him be the Glory!  (If you would like to read the full story, contact Pastor Dennis at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Our Site Pastors and hosts have been inviting you to send them your stories of when God broke into your life in an incredible act of rescue or transformation and each weekend we will have opportunity to hear some of the stories that have been received.  If you have such a story, please send it to your Site Pastor along with permission to share it with others so that we can all be encouraged and challenged by it. 

"When God Broke In" at RPC

To kickoff our "When God Broke In" series this weekend, our Youth Pastor, Erik McRitchie will be telling us the story of how God broke into Zechariah’s life with the promise of a son—when his wife, Elizabeth, had already long passed the child-bearing age. I want to encourage you to do all that you can to be present for the entire series each weekend in December. 

Next weekend, December 10/11, the children will be performing in our services—always a fun and encouraging feature during the Christmas season.

Also be praying for our Christmas Eve services which present us with a ready-made opportunity to invite our neighbours, friends, and family members, who do not have a God- relationship, to join us and hear the wonderful story of how God broke in and became ‘God with us’.  As you pray for God to break through in our December series and Christmas Eve services, pray also that He will break into the impossible situations you are aware of—perhaps in your own life or in the life of a loved one, neighbour or friend—He is in the business of changing lives forever!
