We've Raised Over $540,000!! Did you know...
Nearly half the world lives in extreme poverty, on less than $2 a day. 210,000 children under the age of 5 die each week from extreme poverty. Over 39 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in the world, 95% of them are in the developing world. There are over 12 million children in the world who have been orphaned by AIDS. Over 2.3 million children under the age of 15 are infected with HIV. 90% of them live in sub-Saharan Africa. Without treatment, most will die before their fifth birthday.
What can one small community do? Motivated by what Christ did for us, we have dared to believe that a small community like RockPointe Church can make a world of difference for those suffering with HIV/AIDS and living in extreme poverty. Last spring (2007) we worked with nearly 100 small groups to raise funds and increase awareness of extreme poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Each group was given a certain amount of seed money (not more than $1000 to any group) and asked to go out and multiply the money as a modern day enactment of the parable of the talents (Luke 19). The result: to date we have raised over $540,000!
The funds raised for the Compassion In Action initiative are being focused on four specific areas of the world that are hardest hit by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty. Our partner organizations also provide opportunities for short term teams from RockPointe to have hands-on involvement in the projects we are helping to fund. It’s not too late for you to get involved!

"The test of progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have too much...it is whether we provide enough to those who have too little.” "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"
