When do my kids move into the next class? Why do you group the nursery to preschool kids the way you do?

Our classes are created following the age requirements for school as governed by the City of Calgary. We do not move kids up during the year unless the Site Director gives approval. By following the standard guidelines kids are grouped by similar age and their general skills, interests and attention spans. The curriculum is also age/language appropriate. So if there is a request to move a child, the Site Director will be notified and may want to contact the parents. Children are moved up at the start of each ministry year at Fall Kickoff, the weekend after Labour Day.

Our nursery and preschool kids are also grouped in this way.  This set up means that all kids will move up together every year and will hit kindergarten at the same time.  Kids will there for be with the same small group of kids from Nursery to Grade 12

Who receives a family I.D. card?

Only Nursery, Two-Year-Old, and Preschool children get family I.D. cards automatically when registered. Kindergarten and Grade 1 students do not. We will certainly make a card for a child of any age if the parent would like one. When visiting, parents will be issued a temporary card only, which is turned in at the end of the service.

What happens if I do not have my family I.D. card or I have lost my family I.D. number?

If a parent has lost or forgotten a family I.D. card they may show photo I.D. to pickup their child. A permanently lost I.D. card needs to be reported to the Greeters Desk. Please fill out the feedback form and a new card with a new family I.D. number will be issued for the following week. The family will receive a new family I.D. number.

If I am visiting, how should I check my kids into Kid's Church on weekends?

We are so excited that you are considering joining us at RockPointe!  We want your experience to be a great one and would LOVE to hear any feedback you might have after joining us for a weekend service.

Please come to the Children’s Ministry Greeter’s Desk.  At some locations your nursery-age children will be checked in at the nursery classroom which is in a different location than the Kid's Church check in desk.  You will be asked to fill in a visitors form. You can do this at the desk or you can print a copy and hand it in to one of our greeters.

At the Bearspaw and Bowridge location, the greeters will enter your child’s first name and name into the computer and print off a name tag for each of your children. At the Westhills location, the greeters will make a name tag for your child.

If your child is in nursery to Kindergarten, you will receive a family I.D. card with a number on it. You will have to show this card to the volunteers in the nursery at the end of the service in order to pick up your child.

How will you get in touch with me if my child is upset?

If your child misses you or needs a diaper change, that family I.D. number will appear on the screen in the main service.  Bring the card with you to pick up your child. We do have a policy that we will not let children cry for more than 5-10 minutes before contacting parents.

How do I register my child in RockPointe Kids?

We are very glad you are interested in registering your child/ren in RockPointe Kids.  In order to register, we will require you to fill out a family registration form. You can do this at the check in desk or you can print a copy and hand it in to one of our RockPointe Kids greeters.

Once you have filled this out, you will be registered in our RockPointe Kids database and will be able to check in with our self-serve computers and will be regularly listed on our check-in sheets to make check-in easier and more efficient.  You will also receive a permanent family I.D. number and card for your nursery to Kindergarten-age child.

How do I dedicate my child to Christ?

If you are interested in dedicating your child, please contact Deb Turner ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for more information. Please note: You will be required to attend a Child Dedication Class.

My child wants to be baptized. What is the process for baptizing my child?

At RockPointe, we believe that children can be baptized.  This is a decision that the child makes and this is only done when the child has accepted Jesus Christ as his or her Personal Lord and Saviour.  Children who are interested in being baptized will be invited to attend a baptism class.  Children and their parents will work through a baptism workbook and we will address the meaning of baptism.  If your child is still interested, and you and the facilitator agree that your child is ready and understands the reasons for being baptized, then you will be invited to attend another short 15 minute class going over specific details of a baptism service.

If you would like more information about what baptism is, check out the Christian & Missionary Alliance website!
