Sam Tekley is involved with an organization he founded called Yekibir Tesfa (formerly the Tekley Foundation). The main purpose of the ministry is to sponsor evangelists and dispatch them out to preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the Yem tribe in the southwestern part of Ethiopia. Yekibir Tesfa has had a real impact through supporting students to go to Bible School, helping local churches grow and expand to accommodate other needs such as pre-schools, and has helped lead many locals to give their lives to Christ. Yekibir Tesfa also hopes to minister through partnerships with organizations that provide clean water programs, and would like to start a sports program in village churches.

Sam’s wife, Joyce, has a heart for people and enjoys travel. Sam and Joyce’s eldest daughter, Missiker, takes pleasure in singing, reading, and writing stories. The Tekley’s middle daughter, Rebecca, enjoys drawing and acting, and is the ‘comedian’ of the family, and Samara, their youngest daughter, enjoys music, participates in dancing, and visiting others.
