What is a Small Group

groupwomenA small group may be a brand new concept to you, or maybe you have heard about it for awhile but have never really given it much thought. Either way here is what small groups are all about.

Small groups exist for: Building connection, Spiritual growth and Outward focus.

We learn from scripture that community is vitally important, and that it is a principle driver in spiritual growth. In community we are challenged, held accountable, encouraged, friends, growth, supported and we can safely share powerful testimonies. Acts 2 gives us a wonderful glimpse into the power of believers who met together in the time of Christ. Scripture is laced with the power and importance of community. The body of Christ: meeting together, praying together, eating together and encouraging one another.

Obviously we are not the same culturally as two thousand years ago, so we have to find ways to engage in community like that of Christ's time on earth based on the culture we live in. Small groups are a great way to do this! Typically, groups meet once a week to grow in deeper, more meaningful relationships, read and study scripture together and pray and share their experiences and stories.

Have you ever gone to a Sunday service and left feeling disconnected, or like you weren't quite part of the “family”? Well this is where the small group comes in. Finding meaningful community is difficult sometimes in larger gatherings, like Sunday morning worship services. Small groups allow for a deeper and more significant kind of relationship and dialogue.

Do you feel stalled in your faith? Do you feel disconnected from God? Sometimes this will happen as we are not meant to go on this journey alone. A small group is a great way to be challenged and challenge others; to be accountable in our spiritual growth and helping others grow. It is fertile ground for processing every aspect of a life of faith. Engaging in community may be the step you need to take in order to catalyze your own spiritual growth!

The small group is so important to us at RockPointe Church that we challenge everyone who calls RockPointe their home to get connected and get involved!
