The Elders Board is elected from the membership of RockPointe Church for the purpose of working with the Lead Pastor to establish and implement the mission, vision and directional plan of the church. We believe that God has established the local church as a primary vehicle for establishing and furthering his Kingdom here on earth. As a local church, it is our highest priority to worship God and fulfill the Great Commission.
The governance and operation of RockPointe Church is structured around the principle that the Elders Board most effectively provides ‘oversight to the local church’ when it focuses on clearly defining the mission and vision of the church (the outcomes). Once these outcomes are understood, the Elders Board works with the Lead Pastor to establish measurable results that are quantifiable and achievable (e.g. growth in worship attendance, number of conversions, baptisms, growth in small groups, volunteer involvement levels, special projects and initiatives).
In turn, the ministry operating staff (the pastors, paid staff, ministry team leaders, lay workers) most effectively contribute to local church goals when they have both the responsibility and accountability to establish the means of ministry - program design, methods and procedures. People will be most committed to achieving the desired results if they have meaningful input and say in defining the means to achieve the vision or ‘how to get the job done’.

Shauna Bygrave Shauna was blessed to grow up in a Christian home in Edmonton. She made a decision to follow Christ and was baptized at age 12, but found it was really in her 20’s that she more fully understood what it meant to be a disciple of Jesus. Shauna is most excited about seeing what God has in store during this next season at RockPointe. Shauna found RockPointe in 1999, shortly after finishing university and moving to Calgary, and has always appreciated the biblically grounded teaching, sense of community and outward focus. She married her handsome husband Geoff in 2003 and has 3 boys - Samuel, Levi and Julien. The family currently attends Bowridge on Saturday nights. She loves to ride bikes, garden and read in her spare time, although spare time is sometimes hard to come by with 3 young boys. To email Shauna, please click here. |

She wanted to go into missions, so went to college at Nipawin Bible Institute for 3 years. This is where she began working with children and determined that she wanted to work with Child Evangelism Fellowship. She spent 15 years in Three Hills, where she had the opportunity to teach some children's courses at Prairie College. During this time, she finished a Bachelor of Religious Education from Prairie and received an MA in Leadership and Ministry from Ambrose. In 2012, Marlene was asked to come to King's Fold Retreat and be a part of the community that ran the retreat centre. It has now been 10 years and she hopes to continue there until retirement. Marlene began attending RockPointe in the months after coming to King's Fold and got involved in Children's Ministry right away. Doreen Trinh Doreen was born into and baptized as an infant in a Presbyterian church. She was shown God's love and learned about His Word throughout childhood but it wasn't until she was 14 that she bowed down and declared "My Lord, and My God." Since that moment, God is ever-present in her life, speaking through His Word, trusted friends and a loving family. He opens door after door of opportunity to lean on, trust, and serve Him. Her family found RockPointe Church one year after moving to Calgary. The teaching, worship and the warmth felt in that first service at the Bowridge site was exactly what the family was looking for. Doreen serves as Elder Board Secretary, which fits nicely into her spiritual gifts of Administration and Helps. She is a team player and thrives on opportunities to work within a team setting in order to see a well-formed plan succeed and outcomes achieved. To email Doreen, please click here. |
